PITTSBURGH, PA -- The finch has bootstrapped its way to bootcamp n@.
Solt DB was invited to participate in the Pre-Incubation Bootcamp for Ascender, one of Pittsburgh's early-stage startup incubators. This is the final step for being accepted into the 2023-24 incubator class.
Simply completing the application helped us to refine the pitch for our dynamic investment research platform, which is more valuable that the static investment research most investors are stuck with. Importantly, our unique business model will allow us to fund our core mission of fostering an open and distributed future for living tech with high-quality databases, data visualizations, and more.
Participating in the bootcamp program during April and May will help us to expand our network in the Pittsburgh startup community and further refine our pitch -- just in time for our Beta 2.0 launch on our own website (living.tech). Based on our industry knowledge and early subscriber demographic data, we think there's a path to targeting a unique group of individual investors that aren't being served today. We're also in early discussions to create a higher net-worth service for family offices. Exploring these initiatives would be part of our focus if accepted into the incubator.
Ascender Bootcamp culminates with a pitch on May 6. If there's a good fit between our roadmap and Ascender's expertise, then Solt DB could earn a spot in the 2023-24 incubator class starting in June.
No matter the final decision, this has been and should continue to be a great experience for the finch during what's shaping up to be a pivotal year.
We look forward to updating you soon. In the meantime, read more about Ascender.
About Solt DB
Solt DB is a public benefit company exploring the business of biotech. The finch helps investors learn about science and scientists learn about business.
Subscriptions to investment research ensure our platform has long-term sustainability. That strong foundation allows us to create value for the public benefit.
The finch publishes free, objective analyses of the bioeconomy. We combine clear writing and data visualizations to make nerdy technical concepts accessible, so you can go beyond the headlines on a noisy internet. Subscriptions also allow us to self-fund the development of high quality, open source data assets such as the Solt DB Biotech Company Database. Our unique business model means our incentives are never tied to advertising, clickbait, or corporate sponsors.
As an additional show of our commitment to create public benefit, Solt DB donates 5% of subscription revenue to Nucleate Pittsburgh and 1% to Stripe Climate. Read more about our mission.
